Some people who suffer from subarachnoid hemorrhage will go on to develop cerebral artery vasospasm whereas others do not. Is this in part due to an inherited predisposition to vasospasm? Our current research, supported through life science industry and American Heart Association funding, looks to identify the underlying cause for this disorder.

Pseudotumor cerebri (also known as idiopathic intracranial hypertension) is a poorly-understood condition in which the fluid inside the brain is often produced in excessive amounts. Is pseudotumor related to a lack of normal substances that serve to inhibit the production of the brain fluid?
The majority of stroke is caused by loss of blood flow to a region of the brain. We are working in conjunction with a medical device company to develop a novel stimulator device to increase cerebral blood flow to the brain in stroke patients.
